Fosters & Supplies
Is philanthropy or volunteerism on your list of New Year's resolutions? If so, ring in 2011 by helping Birmingham Boston Terrier Rescue. Many in our area diligently strive year-round to save and rehome at-risk or abandoned Boston Terriers. Each volunteer's needs vary, including opportunities that range from one time to ongoing. Many Boston Terriers surrendered to a shelter have zero to a few days before euthanasia. BhamBTR can rescue as many Boston Terriers as it has foster homes. If you volunteer your home and family for this temporary duty, BhamBTR will cover all veterinary expenses. Plus, foster families are under no time obligation. Volunteer for a week or a year. Your selection can range from a pregnant mama dog or puppies to a senior Boston Terrier with special needs. These Boston Terriers just require a happy place to call Temporary Home until their Forever Home can be found.

Transportation
Transporting a dog(s)
entails picking up a dog(s) from a driver in one town
and then driving anywhere from 50 to a 100 miles to another
town (depending on what the transport request indicates).
You will then meet another driver who will then in turn
do the same. Once you have transferred the dog(s) to the
other driver, you are required to call the transport coordinator
and check in as all transports are monitored. Once the
dog(s) reaches its destination, an email will be sent
to all involved to thank them and let them know that the
dog(s) is safe and sound.

Home Visits
There is nothing virtual about this process. Our Home Visit teams do exactly that: they physically visit the home of the individual or family before the adoption process is completed. This ensures that the home is a safe, stable, and loving environment, and that their new pet will be accepted as a permanent family member. BhamBTR provides each Home Visit team with a training session and a Home Visit checklist in preparation for this critical volunteer task
