Want to help a Boston Terrier in need, but don't know where
your donation is going? Is there a particular
Boston Terrier that we have for adoption that you would
like to help, but you either cannot adopt him/her or
want to donate specifically towards that Boston Terrier?
Our sponsor program is a "virtual Boston Terrier
adoption" which allows you to choose which Boston
Terrier you would like to help, rather than just making
a donation and not knowing whom your donation will help.
Why the need
for sponsors? Several reasons: because even
the sweetest, best behaved Boston Terriers can
go unnoticed by potential adopters, simply because they
are too "average" looking, or not "attractive
enough." Or maybe you have fallen in love with
a Boston Terrier that you saw on our websitel pages,
but you are unable to bring him/her into your home.
Sponsoring helps the Boston Terrier of your choice and
allows your donation to provide something special for
your Boston Terrier without causing you the
daily obligation, expenses, or upkeep of physically
adopting a Boston Terrier. It also helps our money
go towards another needy Boston Terrier, which means
another Boston Terrier is saved from their destined
death at various shelters throughout the state.
Most of the
Boston Terrier that come to BhamBTR are in need
of basic veterinary treatment: spay/neuter, basic vaccines
(two DHLPP sets for adults, four DHPP/DHLPP sets for
puppies, plus rabies), heartworm testing, monthly heartworm
prevention, fecal testing, and intestinal parasite deworming.
These basic veterinary expenses alone generally
add up to a couple of hundred dollars per dog .
In addition to the basic, routine veterinary care listed
above, some of our Boston Terriers need extensive
vet care, including heartworm treatment, parvo
treatment, demodectic or sarcoptic mange treatment,
surgeries, etc., which can cost several hundred of dollars per
dog. In addition to veterinary expenses, it costs,
on average, about $25 to $30 per week per dog to maintain
the rescue; and in addition to veterinary expenses,
we also have to consider food, supplements/vitamins
(for dogs with allergies, special nutritional needs,
etc.), treats, toys, bedding, flea/tick prevention,
and bathing and/or grooming expenses.
Because of the
above described expenses, we are always in
need of donations. We are not state or government funded,
but rather we receive very few donations in comparison
to the extent of our bills and expenses; and
the funding provided for Boston Terriers comes from
our volunteers' personal incomes. Please try to
imagine using your personal money, which you use for
your family and household expenses and personal
pets, to also care for several physically injured, sick,
neglected and/or abused Boston Terriers. Now that
you understand where our money comes from, we hope you
will consider sponsoring, or donating, towards our rescued
Boston Terriers.
